The Chicago Blackhawks seem destined to be sellers at the NHL trade deadline, with the Stanley Cup Playoffs all but out of reach. After a change in the front office saw Kyle Davidson take over as GM, the team's plans may have changed slightly. Ultimately, however, it's time for the Blackhawks to build for the future, and every player not named Alex DeBrincat should be available.

There are plenty of veterans the Blackhawks could look to offload, but don't expect the team to trade a player just to show them the exit door. Davidson will only sell if the value is right, which may not be the case for some of the veterans on the roster. Still, if the right deal comes by, don't be surprised if the Blackhawks are major sellers at the March 21 deadline.

With that in mind, here are two trades the Blackhawks should look to make at the 2022 NHL trade deadline.

2. Offload Brandon Hagel for valuable future assets

One of the main issues in Chicago right now is the lack of young talent. Why would they trade away one of their best young players in Hagel then? Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that if the Blackhawks want to build for the future, it'll most likely be a few seasons until they contend. Hagel is on a team-friendly contract with three years remaining on the deal at $1.5 million per season, and is likely the most valuable trade chip the Blackhawks have at their disposal. This season, Hagel has racked up 36 points, providing 20 goals and 16 assists across 54 games.

The time is ripe for the team to cut ties with the 23-year-old, especially if that haul would feature a first-round pick in addition to some other assets. While Hagel is certainly a talented young building block, he simply doesn't match up with the rest of Chicago's timeline, and the team would be wise to capitalize on him at peak value.

1. Trade away Marc-Andre Fleury

This one feels like it's bound to happen, it's just a matter of where the goaltender goes. There are a handful of teams expected to be in play for the experienced goaltender. With so many suitors looking to improve in net, the Blackhawks could wind up getting some valuable assets in any deal for the 37-year-old, who was set to hit free agency at the end of the season. A first-round pick seems out of reach for the Blackhawks in exchange for Fleury, though there's not much history of a market to go on, based on the rarity in which star goaltenders are traded during a season.

Still, with an expiring contract, Fleury could well be poached by a contender such as the Avalanche or Oilers, both of whom could stand to improve in goal. The return remains foggy, but getting any sorry of decent value in exchange for the goaltender who is destined for free agency would be a smart move on the part of the Blackhawks. This year, Fleury has a .908 save percentage and has 19 wins in 43 games.
