The Washington Nationals are 30-55 and plummeting further down the standings, having lost seven of their last 10 games. That leaves them with one option at this year's MLB trade deadline: sell. But who could they deal?

The team expressed no interest in trading superstar outfielder Juan Soto (can you blame them?), so that leaves first baseman Josh Bell as their best possible trade chip for the August 2 deadline. Bell has been their most consistent hitter, even more so than Soto, and is enjoying a career year in the final season of his contract.

There are plenty of teams that will line up and trade for Bell as a rental bat down the stretch. But who are the best fits for the Nationals first baseman as MLB trade rumors continue to swirl? That's what we'll determine here.

Without further ado, here are the three best destinations for Josh Bell ahead of the MLB trade deadline.

3 Best Destinations For Josh Bell Ahead Of MLB Trade Deadline

3. Minnesota Twins

The Twins have surprised many, going 47-38 up to this point, good for first place in the American League Central. However, there are still some flaws on the team, ones they must address at the MLB trade deadline.

One such flaw is the first base situation. Miguel Sano has been sidelined with a knee injury- and even when he's been healthy, the veteran slugger has always been a bit of a one-trick pony.

Utility man Luis Arraez has spent some time at first, with Alex Kirilloff behind him, though the Twins would probably like to see the latter play the outfield more often, given their limited depth behind Byron Buxton, Max Kepler and Trevor Larnach.

That leaves the Twins with a part-time situation at first base. Not ideal for a contending team. Enter Josh Bell.

Bell would give the Twins a more well-rounded offensive player to insert into their batting order at first base. The Nationals slugger is currently on-pace for a career-high .310 batting average to go along with a .895 OPS and 12 home runs.

Slotting Josh Bell into a lineup with Buxton, Carlos Correa, Gary Sanchez and Jorge Polanco would be a nice addition for Minnesota. The Twins should go out and make it happen at the MLB trade deadline.

2. Boston Red Sox

It's simple. The Red Sox need better production out of their first basemen. Red Sox first basemen, including Franchy Cordero and Bobby Dalbec, have been worth -1.6 Wins Above Replacement. -1.6! That's the second-worst mark in the MLB.

Boston's first base situation is quite literally weighing them down. Could the Red Sox use another starter? Sure. Could they stand to add an extra reliever? Maybe.

However, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more glaring need on a 45-38 team. Josh Bell would be a perfect fit on the Red Sox. Boston fans could kiss the subpar production they've gotten out of Dalbec and Cordero goodbye.

Inserting Bell into a batting order that already features Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez is a scary thought for opposing teams.

It would make a Red Sox offense that already ranks among the top-10 in runs scored even more dangerous. Boston needs to address first base. Who better to acquire than Josh Bell?

1. Houston Astros

Stop me if you've heard this one before. The Astros don't have many weaknesses. Currently 54-28, they've been on an absolute tear lately, having won nine of their last 10 contests.

Powered by one of the league's best pitching staffs, the Astros look to be gearing up for another run deep into the postseason. However, they happen to have one glaring weakness on their team right now.

The Astros lineup isn't quite as formidable in years past, with one player in particular not pulling his weight at the moment. First baseman Yuli Gurriel is not having the best season, having posted just a .226 average and .670 OPS in 292 plate appearances.

Would you believe that he's the same guy who won the batting title last season? Even his normally outstanding defense hasn't been great.

The Astros might have to accept the fact that Gurriel, 38, is on the back nine of his career. Luckily for them, another option just so happens to be waiting on the trade market.

That's right. The Nationals need to trade for Nationals slugger Josh Bell. Bell has actually been an improved defender this season- and the bat speaks for itself.

The Astros could trade for Bell and then either re-sign him next winter or let both he and Gurriel walk as free agents. Even if he's a rental bat, Josh Bell could make a huge impact for a team like the Astros.
