The MLB All-Star weekend festivities are always a source of entertaining baseball. Whether it be watching some of the best young players in the minors partake in the Futures Game, sluggers going toe-to-toe in the Home Run Derby, or the All-Star game itself, there is something for all baseball fans to watch throughout the weekend.

The All-Star Game itself is the finale of sorts, as it provides a platform for the best players from each conference to go toe-to-toe against each other and see which side comes out on top. The 2022 version of the contest will be taking place at Dodger Stadium out in Los Angeles and is set to take place on Tuesday, July 19th at 8:00 PM EST. With one of the most exciting contests of the MLB season right around the corner, let's take a look at three bold predictions we have for the game.

3 predictions for the 2022 MLB All-Star Game

3. New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge will go 0-2 with two strikeouts

Aaron Judge is the frontrunner for the American League MVP award midway through the season, and for good reason. Judge has been the leading force of the Yankees' vaunted offense this season, hitting .274 with 31 home runs and 66 RBIs. Judge's torrid start to the season helped him earn his third career All-Star selection, and a starting spot in the outfield alongside his Yankees teammate Giancarlo Stanton.

While Judge has been fantastic this season, he continues to strike out at a high rate, as he has for much of his career. Judge is already up to 100 strikeouts on the season, which is tied for tenth-most in the entire league. Obviously, Judge gets on base enough to the point where this isn't really an issue, but in the All-Star Game, it's something to take note of.

Against star pitching, Judge will struggle in Los Angeles. The prediction here is that he will be set down on strikes in his only two at-bats of the game, providing a rather anti-climactic result for one of the most exciting players in the game. But sometimes, that's how things go in the All-Star Game, and Judge will learn that the hard way here.

2. Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara will throw two perfect innings to start the game for the National League

There are a handful of superb starting pitchers in the National League, but Sandy Alcantara has been the best of the bunch. Alcantara has posted a 9-4 record on a scintillating 1.76 ERA while racking up 123 strikeouts along the way. Starters for the game haven't been announced yet, but it's widely expected Alcantara will get the ball to kick things off for the NL.

Alcantara has dominated everyone he has faced this season, and chances are that will continue into the All-Star Game. The expectation here is that Alcantara will get the first two innings of the game, and he will effortlessly sit down the six batters that have the misfortune of stepping into the batter's box against him. It will be another achievement for Alcantara, who appears well on his way to locking up the first Cy Young award of his career.

1. Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers will be the MVP of the 2022 MLB All-Star Game

Right behind Judge in the American League MVP race is Rafael Devers, who continues to cement himself as one of the best hitters in the league. Devers is hitting .326 with 20 home runs and 54 RBIs, and he's helped keep the Red Sox afloat in a wildly competitive AL East division. As a result, Devers earned his second straight starting nod at third base for the American League squad.

Devers will be part of the six batter stretch that Alcantara sits down to open the game, but he will crank out a three-run home run in his second at-bat against Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers that gives the American League squad a lead they will not relinquish.

In the end, the American League will go on to win 6-2, with Devers' big blast being the deciding moment of the game. It will be another nice accolade for the young slugger to add to his collection, and he will look to use this momentum to guide the Sox back to the playoffs with a strong performance over the second half of the season.
