The New York Giants were soundly defeated by the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday night, 30-10. The Giants offense struggled to move the ball and the defense had a hard time getting off the field. It was not the night Giants fans were hoping to see, but probably not much of a surprise either.

However, it's not all bad news for New York. Here are three takeaways from the loss.

Giants Takeaways from Week 11 Loss

3. The stars looked healthy

The most important takeaway for the Giants is that their previously injured stars looked healthy and did not appear to suffer any setbacks.

Running back Saquon Barkley had been dealing with an ankle injury that had kept him out of action since Week 5 vs the Dallas Cowboys. In his return, the Giants clearly eased him back as he garnered only six carries for 25 yards. He was however very active in the passing game, reeling in six catches for another 31 yards.

The Giants were trailing by double digits for a lot of the night, so it's very possible that contributed to the lack of rushing attempts. But the fact that Saquon Barkley finished the game without re-injuring himself is a positive.

Former Pro Bowl wide receiver Kenny Golladay also played almost a full complement of snaps Monday night. Golladay returned prior to the Week 10 bye for the Giants, but did not move naturally. He appeared to be past his knee injury that cost him a month earlier in the season. Out of the skill position injuries, Sterling Shepard was the only player unable to suit up. He is expected back this week.

2. Head Coach Joe Judge's seat is getting warmer

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge is yet to get things turned around for this franchise since he arrived. Judge took the job prior to the 2020 season. There were many different reasons why New York struggled in his first season, most of which you probably could not put on him.

This season, the Giants were expected to improve, at least somewhat. That does not appear to have happened. The Giants are 3-7 and in last place in the NFC East. Granted, they have been dealt a ton of injuries to skill position players, but there has not been any development of young players and the offense has been putrid.

That caused the organization to let go of offensive coordinator Jason Garrett Tuesday.

Freddie Kitchens is said to be taking over the play calling duties for the Giants. Regardless of how the rest of this season plays out for the Giants, Judge's job is likely safe. But the seat is getting warmer. If the Giants are in the same position next season at this point, expect the Mara family to make a change.

1. The Giants need to move on from Daniel Jones

There was quite a bit of controversy when the Giants drafted Daniel Jones #6 overall out of Duke. New York had a lot of holes to fill, and Jones could not possibly fix them. He had just won the Senior Bowl MVP, but the defenses in the ACC left plenty to be desired in terms of competition.

In his 3rd year in the NFL, it appears as though Daniel Jones is not only not improving, but is getting worse. His rookie season was highly successful. Jones threw 24 touchdown passes to only 12 interceptions. Those are great numbers for a rookie quarterback.

In his second season, he took a step back throwing 11 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. This year, through 10 games he has thrown nine touchdown passes to seven interceptions. He is yet to have a season where he completes at least 65% of his passes.

In the new NFL with rules making it easier to move the ball through the air, 65% should be a bench mark any franchise quarterback can hit. Jones' decision making has got worse. Some of his throws leave people wondering what he is thinking.

To win in today's NFL, you need a quarterback that can play efficiently and consistently. Jones has not shown that he can do that. The Giants will more than likely have the opportunity to draft another quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft. Jones is still on his rookie deal, so you can sit the new guy for another year as the Giants continue to rebuild.

The New York Giants have 11 picks currently in the upcoming NFL Draft. It seems like a great opportunity to really start over. They need to move off of Daniel Jones and build an offensive line. They have the picks to do it. The question remains will they do revert back to a wise organization, or continue down this path of ignorance.
