The New England Patriots had an uncharacteristically busy offseason and seemed like they were going to sign everybody. The front office spent some serious cash on wide receiver Nelson Agholor, pass rusher Matthew Judon, tight ends Hunter Henry, and Jonnu Smith.

New England still has some glaring needs to address in the draft and can go different kinds of ways. Below are three options for the Patriots with their second-round pick.

1. Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue

Even with the additions of Agholor and Kendrick Bourne to the wide receiver corps, the unit has several question marks surrounding it. The retirement of veteran wideout Julian Edelman also made the need for the position more pressing. New England will be running more two tight end sets, but it would be good to give Cam Newton more weapons in the passing game.

The first thing that stands out about Moore is his size or rather lack thereof. He measured in at 5'7 180, which means he would have to play almost exclusively at the slot. Further, Moore has an injury history, which is made even more concerning since slot receivers take a lot of punishment, especially when making catches over the middle, where they can get lit up by a linebacker.

So, why is he on this list? Despite his height and weight, he is built thicker than most with players who have similar measurements and are very strong on a pound-per-pound basis. He plays physically and breaks arms tackles.

Moore is elusive and quick, which he uses to get separation from his matchup. He makes tough, contested catches, which you would not expect for someone with his build. Moore is explosive and can fill in the role left by Edelman.

2. Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss

If the Patriots miss out on Moore, they can get another Moore. This Moore is a bit taller than the first one on the list. Similarly, he also plays larger than his size. He is a tough receiver with steady hands, so drops should not be a problem for him even at the professional level.

Moore is a savvy route-runner and regularly creates separation from his man. He has incredible body control, which shows in his ability to stop on a dime and change directions. Moore makes defenders miss and will generate yards after the catch.

His lack of size could make him available at this point in the draft.

3. Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M

Cam Newton will be playing under center for New England next season, but he is just signed to a one-year contract. Even though he is just 31 years old, his play style and wear and tear over the years have taken quite a toll on him.

To prepare for the future, the Patriots can use their number 46 selection on Mond. He played four years at the collegiate level and stands a shade under 6'3 and weighs 211 pounds.

Mond faced tough competition in the SEC while playing in a pro-style system and did have the most talented targets to work with. He possesses a strong arm and moves well inside the pocket, although he can reliably make throws on the run.

Mond is mentally tough and throws with anticipation. He is a solid athlete who can hurt opposing defenses with his legs.

There are times when his decision-making looked suspect and forced passes. Also, he will have to work on getting rid of the ball more quickly. although playing behind the New England line does provide a larger margin for error.
