The first Sunday of the NFL season is nearly here! The San Francisco 49ers will kick off their 2023 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road at Acrisure Stadium. The game will feature the return of Brock Purdy after his injury in the NFC Championship Game. In his return, Steelers CB Patrick Peterson claimed that he will pick off the QB in their game.

““There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we’re gonna get from those guys in certain situations,” Peterson told co-host Bryant McFadden. “When I get my pick Sunday, we’ll talk about it.””

Naturally, Brock Purdy was asked about this during the 49ers practice. Purdy had a simple yet stern response to this, per NBC Sports.

Perfect. At the end of the day, nothing is better than just playing your game. Despite his age, Purdy is exuding a level of confidence reserved for grizzled veteran QBs. The 49ers chose him as their starter specifically because of that.

One of Purdy's biggest strengths from the games last season was his decision-making. The 49ers' final pick of the draft was confident standing in the pocket going through his reads. He threw for 13 TDs to just 4 INTs, and had a completion rate of 67.1%, Despite coming in as a third-stringer, Purdy looked like he was the starter from the jump.

It certainly helps that Purdy has elite teammates to help him out. When your targets are Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle, while also having Christian McCaffrey in the backfield and Trent Williams protecting your blindside, life as a QB is as easy as it can get. Can Purdy maintain this insane pace from him?
