The San Francisco 49ers defense has stepped up to the occasion in the playoffs, which has included allowing a mere 10 points to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC divisional round. For 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, he sees that he is playing on the “best” defense in the NFL today.

Greenlaw recently spoke to 95.7 The Game's Damon Bruce and Ray Ratto where he laid out the key factor behind the potent play from the 49ers defense as of late.

“No doubt we're the best defense on the planet,” Greenlaw said. “Those guys up front, they prove it. They're the reason why we're the best defense just because of how fast, how hard, how violent they [are]. As linebackers, we run, and we scrape, and we just go off those guys.

“They give us the energy, and we know the type of night, the type of day it's going to be out there, watching those guys go out there and do what they do. It's been fun to be a part of it. I'm excited to see how dominant they can be this week.”

As Greenlaw touched on, the 49ers front seven has essentially been the backbone of the team’s success on the defensive side of the ball over the campaign. The 49ers finished regular season play with 48 total sacks, which tied them with the Miami Dolphins for the fifth-most in the league. More so, the 49ers rush defense had its way at the line of scrimmage, as it ranked at seventh in rushing yards allowed per game with a 103.5 average.

Greenlaw and the 49ers defense will have another potent test this week against the Matthew Stafford-led Rams offense in the 2022 NFC Championship Game. Stafford threw a combined four interceptions and posted a 78.6 passer rating in the pair of regular season clashes with the 49ers.
