The San Francisco 49ers are going off an impressive Super Bowl run to cap off the 2019 NFL season. Unfortunately, there is still plenty of speculation regarding whether or not quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo can get the job done.

Stephen A. Smith did not hold back when it came to the notion of Garoppolo being carried by his stellar supporting cast. Tight end George Kittle came to bat for his quarterback during an appearance on ESPN's First Take:

“He got us to the Super Bowl,” Kittle said. “He goes out there and he performs week in, week out. Leads the league in third-down percentage, he won us two games versus Arizona, he won us the Rams game at the end, he won a shootout with Drew Brees, who in my opinion is one of the best quarterbacks to do it.”

Kittle has never passed up on an opportunity to defend his teammate from all the criticism from the loss in Super Bowl LIV. He even shot down the notion of rumors surrounding San Francisco's reported interest in quarterback Tom Brady during the start of the offseason. It is safe to say that he came well-equipped with some facts for Smith to give credit to his quarterback.

It is certainly encouraging to see that Garoppolo has seemingly earned the trust of his teammates and such staunch support from a player of Kittle's caliber goes a long way.

Regardless, there will continue to be noise about the 49ers' shortcomings under center considering how talented this team is across the board.
