The San Francisco 49ers is among the most talked-about destinations for disgruntled Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson. The 3-time Pro-Bowler's arrival would likely mean the end of Jimmy Garoppolo's tenure as San Francisco's quarterback. 49ers tight end George Kittle, however, still believes they can reach the mountaintop again with Garoppolo leading the attack.

Via Peter Schrager of Fox Sports:

The two-time Pro Bowler certainly still has his vote of confidence for Jimmy G. The 49ers are just two years removed from almost going all the way, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in heartbreaking fashion at Super Bowl LIV just last year.

Unfortunately, San Francisco could not sustain the momentum from their successful 2019 campaign, despite not winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy. They fell out of postseason contention in 2020, finishing with just a 6-10 record. With that, there have been many speculations on Garoppolo's future with the team throughout the season.

Previous reports indicated that the 49ers intend to keep Garoppolo, who won two Super Bowls as a member of the New England Patriots. However, with Deshaun Watson formally requesting for a trade out of Houston, San Francisco might soon be singing a different tune.

Watson is a generational quarterback and the 49ers would be smart to at least try to engage the Texans in trade talks for the 25-year-old star. Houston is reportedly placing a high price tag for Watson and rightfully so.

Will the 49ers give it a go even with Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm? It remains to be seen. As for George Kittle, he still has a ton of faith that Jimmy G can get it done.
