Before Tom Brady chose to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there were rumors floating around that the San Francisco 49ers could pursue him in free agency.

After the dust has settled, George Kittle revealed what he thought about Brady possibly joining the team.

Here's what Kittle had to say about whether he was buying the Brady to the 49ers rumors before the star quarterback chose to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

“It is what it is,” Kittle told #PFTPM on Friday. “People talk. There’s nothing else to talk about. It’s nothing that I took seriously.  Jimmy G is my quarterback, and he’s one hell of a quarterback. We don’t get to the Super Bowl without him. So there’s no one that I’d  replace him with. What he’s done for this team leadership-wise and on the field, he’s one-of-a kind. There’s no one else I’d rather be around to throw me the ball. You know, I’m just excited being able to play football again with Jimmy G and I know that he’s ready to fling that rock again.”

For the first time in his career, Jimmy Garoppolo was able to start in all 16 games in 2019 while helping the 49ers achieve a ton of success. As a result, the 49ers were able to advance to the playoffs, ultimately making the Super Bowl.

However, despite his contributions in the regular season, Garoppolo took a backseat to the 49ers rushing attack in the postseason. Then, in the Super Bowl, Garoppolo failed to deliver when it mattered most, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs after holding a 20-10 lead in the third quarter.

Nevertheless, Kittle is confident that Garoppolo can be the quarterback that leads San Francisco to the promised land. Only time will tell if the 49ers made a mistake by not going after Brady in free agency.
