The San Francisco 49ers made a litany of roster moves Thursday, the largest of which stems from wide receiver Jalen Hurd being placed on injured reserve (IR) list due to a torn ACL that is expected to end his 2020 season before it ever began.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team signed wide receiver Jaron Brown, safety Johnathan Cyprien, and offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu to one-year contracts, while inking defensive back Evan Foster to a three-year pact. Hurd's placement on the IR makes way for the group, as does the waiving of cornerback DeMarkus Acy and linebacker Jonas Griffith.

Hurd was a third-round selection by San Francisco in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Baylor, also having previously played at Tennessee. He began to make an immediate impact during the preseason last year, but a back injury ultimately wound up costing him the entire campaign. Now, it appears that the first two seasons of his professional career will be lost due to injury.

With Hurd not in the mix, Brown, a seven-year veteran, has been brought aboard to join a competitive 49ers wide receiving corps. Having spent his entire career in the NFC West (five years with Arizona, two with Seattle), Brown will likely be able to acclimate quickly to a San Francisco offense looking for the ability to stretch the field. Over the past two seasons, he has averaged a 63.8 percent catch rate, while compiling 30 receptions for seven touchdowns.

Cyprien has also been in the NFL since 2013, with the 49ers marking his fifth franchise for which to suit up.
