Gronk knows elite talent when he sees one, and he knew that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had the potential to become the elite pass-caller that he is today.

Rob Gronkowski was recently named to become an analyst for Fox Sports, and he talked about how Garoppolo–who he affectionately calls Jimmy G–was already showing signs that he was going to become a great quarterback.

He mentioned that Garoppolo struggled like many quarterbacks that try to get their bearings in the NFL. He had to learn the system and didn't have anything to show for his work. However, Gronk noted that it was in his third year as a player that he's begun playing to his potential.

There were two instances where Gronk saw Garoppolo's potential to be great. The first one was during their Monday night loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He managed to notice Gronk doing a route different to what they agreed upon and still managed to complete the pass. The other instance was three weeks before he was traded. Gronkowski said that he put the ball exactly where it was needed to complete the pass.

Gronkowski was quick to point out that being under Tom Brady's wing did a lot of good to Jimmy's career. The experience and knowledge he can share to a quarterback is valuable, and many of his backups–like Garoppolo and Teddy Bridgewater–went on to become successful in their own teams.

The 49ers have a tough schedule ahead of them as they play teams with strong quarterbacks in Baltimore, New Orleans, and Seattle. However, Gronkowski is confident that his former teammate will be able to put on a show.
