The NFL draft has come and gone and the San Francisco 49ers made a splash pick with the third overall selection. After much speculation that Mac Jones would be taken by the 49ers, the San Francisco front office pulled a fast one and chose Trey Lance instead.

Trey Lance is a true dual-threat quarterback that can do it all with his legs. He's also an incredibly talented passer as well. Many believe Lance has the potential to become a superstar in the league, however, he'll need some guidance to help him with his development.

One NFL player has stepped up, making the claim he's the perfect mentor for Trey Lance, per TMZ Sports. After not re-signing with the Baltimore Ravens, Robert Griffin III has his sights set on the 49ers. During an interview, Griffin III recalls what it's like to play for the Shanahan's during his time in Washington.

“I remember one time Mike sat me down and had a 20-word play ready for me in the FIRST PRACTICE! And they just sat there and wanted to see if I could spit put every single one of those words and then actually go run the play against a defense led by London Fletcher, one of the best linebackers ever.”

Griffin went on to plead his case for the 49ers taking a look at him.

“Honestly, I don't think they have a guy that would be better situated than myself to come in and mentor the kid so who knows, maybe there's a reunion in store with the Shanahans.”

Lance will likely face a similar test while preparing to become the 49ers' starting quarterback. Griffin III has experience playing in the Shanahan offense and is also one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league. It's unclear what San Francisco plans to do with Jimmy Garropolo, but if they trade him, Robert Griffin III could be an excellent addition to help develop  Lance.
