49ers ‘made a great pick’ in Nick Bosa, says Kliff Kingsbury
The Arizona Cardinals and first-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury have a daunting task in front of them: Take down the undefeated San Francisco 49ers on a short week. While Kingsbury’s Cardinals will surely enter the upcoming Thursday evening NFC West showdown as heavy underdogs, the Arizona head coach is well aware of what lies in front of him and rookie quarterback Kyler Murray: 49ers rookie defensive end Nick Bosa.
“[Bosa is] one of those guys you want on your team and in your locker room,” Kingsbury told reporters on Monday, via Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News. “He plays his tail off. He’s as relentless as they come. And a real guy’s guy. You can tell his teammates like him. We had him graded very highly and San Francisco made a great pick.”
Bosa, who was selected at No. 2 overall and one spot behind the aforementioned Murray as a result of the 2019 NFL Draft, has already tallied seven sacks across seven games this season. Not only that, but his seven sacks currently put Bosa on track to break Jevon Kearse’s single-season rookie sack record. The former Tennessee Titans pass rusher posted a whopping 14.5 sacks and a league-leading eight forced fumbles as a rookie back in 1999-00.
With Bosa absolutely wreaking havoc through his first seven appearances atop the highest level, Murray will need to get the ball to his wide receivers as quickly as possible in order to avoid repeated sacks on Thursday evening against the undefeated 49ers.
