The San Francisco 49ers already boasted one of the more talented defensive lines in the league heading into the 2020 NFL season. Regardless, it seems that did not prevent them from securing some quality depth.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the 49ers have signed former Oakland Raiders defensive end Dion Jordan:

The 49ers are expected to sign former Raiders and Seahawks DE Dion Jordan, source said. He flashed with Oakland with 2 sacks, but now helps depth in SF – a team that had tried to sign him in the past.

The 49ers recently held a workout for both Jordan and fellow pass rusher Ziggy Ansah. Despite Ansah having the more established resume, it appears the former No. 3 overall pick was able to make quite an impression.

Jordan's promising career has largely been derailed by injuries up to this point. Fortunately, he was finally starting to find his footing after registering two sacks in seven games for the Oakland Raiders in the 2019 campaign. He will now be looking to keep that momentum going in his move across The Bay for the 2020 NFL season.

The 49ers already have a talented rotation going on the edge between Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, and Dee Ford. Jordan will be tasked with providing some major depth in the pass-rushing department for a team that is fresh off a Super Bowl appearance.

It is safe to say that the stage has been set for him to spark a potential resurgence and get his career firmly back on track.
