The San Francisco 49ers have signed rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, according to the team. Aiyuk will receive a four-year, $12.5 million deal with a fifth-year option. The contract contains a $6.7 million signing bonus.

Aiyuk, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State, was selected by the 49ers in the first round (25th overall pick) of the NFL Draft in late April. San Francisco moved up six spots to land him.

The 22-year-old actually began his collegiate career at tiny Sierra College in 2016. He logged 29 catches for 573 yards and five touchdowns during his freshman campaign, and the following season, Aiyuk caught 60 passes for 960 yards and 14 scores. He was named a Junior College All-American that year and then transferred to Arizona State.

In his first season with the Sun Devils, Aiyuk snared 33 balls for 474 yards while reaching the end zone three times in a fairly limited role. He then broke out during his second year with the school, hauling in 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns and establishing himself as one of the top wide outs in his draft class.

The Niners signed both of their first-round picks on Friday, as they also came to terms with defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw. Kinlaw was taken with the 14th overall selection.

The 49ers are coming off of a surprising 2019-20 campaign in which they won 13 games, captured the NFC West division title and locked down the No. 1 overall seed in the conference. They went on to make it all the way to the Super Bowl, where they ultimately fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.
