With the San Francisco 49ers set to face off against Washington Football Team in their Week 14 matchup, this contest presents Niners left tackle Trent Williams with an opportunity to rekindle some old flames with his former team. This will be the first time the 32-year-old will face his former team following his departure in the offseason, and for his part, Williams chose to talk about how that experience was for him.
Williams admitted that he did not part ways with Washington in a very amicable manner, but that at this point, he also holds no ill will against the franchise:

The people who helped instigate the situation are no longer a part of the organization. I'm not going to sit here and carry some grudge because people expect me to carry it.”
After spending nearly a decade with the team that drafted him as the fourth overall pick back in 2010, Williams was traded by Washington during the offseason. The 49ers had to give up a couple of draft picks in exchange for the seven-time Pro Bowl tackle, which in hindsight, appears to have been a good deal for San Francisco.
Williams' dispute with Washington stems from him having to sit out the entirety of the previous campaign after being diagnosed with a rare cancer. He did not appreciate how the team handled his situation, which eventually ended up with a rather messy divorce.
Based on his statement above, however, this now all seems like water under the bridge for Williams, as he has decided to move on from what was an awful year with Washington.
