San Francisco 49ers' RB Christian McCaffrey will grace the EA Sports Madden NFL 25 cover. EA Sports is beginning to roll out new info for their next Madden title. Furthermore, we even received details on what EA plans to focus on this year, including improvements to FIELDSense, new commentary/presentation, and more on Next Gen systems. Without further ado, let's take a look.

Who Is The Madden 25 Cover Athlete?

San Francisco 49ers' RB Christian McCaffrey is your Madden 25 cover athlete for both the Standard and Deluxe Edition of the game. He becomes the first player in 49ers history to grace the cover of a Madden game. After an incredible season, the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year makes for an excellent cover athlete.

The Standard Edition cover shows the star running back flexing with the crowd behind him. However, the Deluxe Edition shows the Stanford alum running down the field and evading some tacklers. Both covers feature McCaffrey front and center. For reference, last year's cover athlete was Buffalo Bills' QB Josh Allen, who can be seen celebrating with fans on the Madden 24 Deluxe Edition cover.

Additionally, we also received a few details on Madden 25's Gameplay on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Overall, these include:

  • FieldSENSE Improvements (PS5, XSX, PC Only)
  • New Commentary (We may have more than one announcement crew in Madden 25)
  • Mode updates for Franchise & more

We expect to hear more info soon on all the new gameplay improvements.

Christian McCaffrey Reacts To Madden 25 Cover

“To be on the cover of Madden NFL is a career achievement and an honor I share with all of my teammates, coaches, and 49er Faithful who have helped make it possible,” said McCaffrey. “I'm pumped to get back on the field this year to give Madden players more reasons to keep scoring touchdowns with me in Madden NFL 25.

The three-time Pro-Bowler enjoyed his best season in 2023, earning 2,023 yards from scrimmage and 21 total touchdowns. Furthermore, McCaffrey ran for a career-high 5.4 yards per run last season as he helped bring his team to the Super Bowl. McCaffrey continued to play well in the postseason, earning over 400 total yards while scoring 5 touchdowns across three games.

He is more than deserving of a Madden 25 cover spot. He marks the first running back to grace the cover since Barry Sanders on the original Madden 25 (released back in 2013. Hopefully parents are aware of that when picking up the latest Madden game for their kid this Christmas.

Overall, that includes everything we know so far about Madden 25 and its cover. We actually really like the Deluxe Edition cover, which shows a player actually playing Football. But it'll be interesting to see all the new changes EA plans to implement in this game. With EA College Football 25 releasing in one month, there is hopefully more incentive from the Madden team to produce an even better game. Hopefully this internal competition leads to some great quality football titles.
