Hogwarts Legacy is a game announced back in 2020 alongside the game’s official trailer. Just recently, PlayStation announced in their blog that players will finally have their first look at Hogwarts Legacy's gameplay. The game’s showcase will take place on the PlayStation Twitch and Youtube channels this Thursday. With that being said, here are 5 things that we want to see in Hogwarts Legacy’s gameplay showcase.

5 Things We Want To See in the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play Live Stream

Character Customization

One of the most exciting things about Hogwarts Legacy is the fact that players can create their own wizards. It’s safe to assume that a lot of Harry Potter fans imagined themselves to be a part of the wizarding world. Who wouldn’t? Now with Hogwarts Legacy soon coming out, it’ll be a perfect game to finally make those fantasies a virtual reality.

Hopefully, during the State of Play, the team would feature a quick scan of what character customization would look like. Many games before Hogwarts Legacy have been using this feature. It’ll be interesting to see if they added in any unique elements or at least have an efficient customization system.

Wizarding World’s Expansiveness

According to Hogwarts Legacy’s website, the game is going to be an open-world action RPG. With that being said, it’ll be exciting to see what Avalanche Software has in store for us. We can’t wait to see the wizarding world like never before. Given the game’s open-world element, this will be our opportunity to see some never before seen locations of the wizarding world. In addition to that, we’d also love to see how the devs recreated Hogwarts into a modern-day video game. Based on the trailer, Hogwarts Legacy looks graphically promising.

Controls and Navigation

These days, many modern-day video game titles are graphically gorgeous but lack a lot in the controls department. Aside from breath taking graphics, having smooth controls in a game is what really matters the most. It’ll be a bit difficult to tell whether the controls are good or not just basing it off from a livestream. However, there are some instances when you will notice that some movements are off just from watching gameplay alone.

It’ll also be interesting to see how the combat system works in Hogwarts Legacy. Will it be turn based similar to the Final Fantasy franchise? Maybe it’ll be free flowing like how The Witcher, Skyrim, and Breath of the Wild did it?  Either way, we feel like both combat styles will work for a game like Hogwarts Legacy.

Mini-Games

As fun as having an open-world wizarding world game sounds, a lot of us are also intrigued by the Hogwarts life. We would definitely want to see some mini games showcasing what a Hogwarts student might be doing in their class. School work such as brewing potions and practicing magic will be something to look forward to in the game.

Another interesting mini game we’d definitely want to see is a game of Quidditch. Honestly, it can be more than a mini game, maybe more of a side quest which players can take on. It doesn’t have to be repetitive either, the mini game can have a Win-Loss record for each house. That way, it’ll feel more fulfilling to play Quidditch within Hogwarts Legacy. Who knows? This might be a great opportunity for Avalanche to test out the waters in creating a Harry Potter inspired standalone sports game.

Social Interaction

Every game will always have NPCs within the system so it creates a more interactive environment for players. However, there are several games that utilized NPCs in a more immersive way. Video game franchises such as Fallout, Mass Effect, The Elder Scrolls, and The Witcher have taken these NPC interactions to another level. This is an element that we’d definitely want to see in Hogwarts Legacy.

It makes perfect sense to have this feature given that players are living a life of a student. When in school, you make friends, you create enemies or rivalries, and choose what you want to do in your social life. Especially in a world like Hogwarts wherein there are 4 houses that students are assigned to. This will be the perfect opportunity to build friendships, form alliances, and increase your popularity in school. Aside from that, friendship levels and romantic levels are a couple of elements that can change the landscape of your gaming experience.

Honestly, there are other features we would want to see im Hogwarts Legacy. However, if we kept on rambling about what we want to see, it could turn into a list of requests. Whatever Avalanche has in store for us at State of Play, we’re hoping it won’t be disappointing. A lot of players have been waiting for almost 2 years for an update about Hogwarts Legacy. We expect to see some worthwhile gameplay footage and hopefully hear some good news about the game.
