Entering into his fourth NBA season, Joel Embiid, of the Philadelphia 76ers, has a promising future as owner Josh Harris and the 76ers are looking to offer him a contract extension.

According to Tom Moore of the Courier Times, the Sixers can extend Embiid's rookie contract from July 1 until the day before the season opener in mid- to late-October.

Starting in the 2018-2019 season, this extension may result in a contract worth $130 million over five years or around $100 million for four years.

Embiid averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, along with 2.5 blocked shots per game last season in just 31 games. He missed his first two years in the NBA due to right foot surgeries and a majority of last season with a torn meniscus, raising questions for the 76ers organization of whether he will be able to stay healthy, as this contract extension is being talked about.

However, the various skills he has in his arsenal, especially as a big man, allow him to contribute greatly to the improving 76ers. Especially with Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz in the lineup, Embiid's skill set will compliment the athleticism of the young team. This dangerous lineup may outweigh the risk of injuries as Embiid is taking the NBA by storm and making a tremendous impact in the league.
