Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was honored with the Comeback Player of the Year award by the National Basketball Players Association during the Players' Voice Awards. These awards are a direct result of voting by the players of the league, as the motto reads: “the only awards voted on BY the players, FOR the players.”

Embiid missed his first two seasons after being drafted in 2014, but took the league by storm upon his return this past season, averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game through 31 games.

The Sixers were awfully careful with him, limiting not only his minutes to the mid-20's, but his back-to-back appearances early in the season.

The 7-footer showed his ability knock shots down from beyond the arc, doing so at a 36.7 percent clip, also shooting a comfortable 78.3 percent from the stripe.

Embiid's season was soon-after cut short due to an injury set back, but is reportedly in line to return for the start of the season.
