In an effort to save money during an ongoing rebuild, Hondo's $9 million salary for the upcoming season needed to be waived before Friday's deadline.
The move comes just in time for the 29-year-old guard to enter free agency unrestricted, yet still, will retain $1 million of the guaranteed salary he was owed.
Henderson averaged 9.2 points, 1.6 assists, and 2.6 rebounds for the Sixers.
