One of Bullet Club's newest members made a shocking appearance at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Former IWGP United States Champion Juice Robinson appeared in a backstage segment.

AEW commentator Tony Schiavone and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion “Switchblade” Jay White joined Robinson backstage. Robinson cut off Schiavone's intro to proclaim the “little soiree” later on Sunday night was a number one contendership match.

The soiree Robinson was referring to is the match between Will Ospreay and Orange Cassidy for the IWGP United States Championship. Ospreay defeated Sanada at NJPW Dominion on June 12 to win the vacant title.

NJPW stripped Robinson of the IWGP US Championship on June 10, after the 33-year-old couldn't perform at Dominion due to appendicitis.

Robinson joined the Bullet Club at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku. Wearing a Bullet Club vest, he attacked then US Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi. He defeated Tanahashi, Ospreay, and AEW's Jon Moxley at NJPW Capital Collision to win the title.

Ospreay does not possess the physical belt despite being the official champion. This is because of Robinson's refusal to relinquish the title.

The match between Ospreay and Cassidy was set up on the June 15 episode of AEW Dynamite. The returning Cassidy confronted Ospreay after the latter defeated Dax Harwood in singles competition.

This angle seems to be building towards a match between the Bullet Club member and the leader of the United Empire faction.

Robinson is a three-time IWGP US Champion and one-time IWGP Tag Team Champion with David Finlay. Robinson and Finley also won the World Tag League in 2019.
