Well, with Forbidden Door ever approaching, and now that New Japan Pro Wrestling Dominion has concluded, there has been plenty of new match announcements on AEW programming, with the most recent bringing on an interesting stipulation.

If you’ve been keeping up as of late, Best Friends/Roppongi Vice has been in a pretty violent feud with New Japan’s United Empire, with FTR joining the mix as well. FTR are the proud holders of the Ring of Honor Tag Team Title, with United Empire – Jeff Cobb and Great O-Khan, to be specific – getting the IWGP Tag Team Title at the aforementioned Dominion. Since Will Ospreay will be busy with Orange Cassidy in a match few could have predicted yet promises to be interesting, why not have the teams of FTR, Roppongi Vice, and United Empire settle their differences in the ring as well?

And better yet, why not make it a winner takes all match for both titles?

That’s right, in a move reminiscent of the collaborative Pay-Per-Views between New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor, the winner of this three-way tag team match will hold both the Ring of Honor and IWGP Tag Team Titles. Seeing that this has been one of the more consistent feuds setting up Forbidden Door on AEW programming, adding these stakes makes this match all the more exciting.

Assuming FTR wins this match and gains both titles, this not only means that they will officially have championship wins in WWE, ROH, AEW, AAA, and NJPW, but it also means a potential run defending the titles in Japan. However, regardless of the winner, it does show yet another example of how New Japan and AEW will indeed continue to collaborate after this event ends.
