Alabama football is breaking in a new quarterback this year as Jalen Milroe is taking over after Bryce Young went #1 overall in the NFL Draft. Milroe got his first start last Saturday in the Crimson Tide's opener against Middle Tennessee State football. Milroe looked sharp in his debut, going 13-18 through the air for 194 yards and three touchdowns, but he also did a lot of damage on the ground. Milroe led Alabama with 48 yards on seven carries, and he added two more touchdowns with his legs. The performance that Milroe put on last week earned him some high praise from ESPN's Pat McAfee.

There are shades of Lamar Jackson in this Milroe,” Pat McAfee said on ESPN's Get Up. “When you have him on a college football field, he looks like an adult outrunning everybody else.”

The comparison makes sense. Lamar Jackson and Jalen Milroe are both mobile, athletic QBs that can make plays with their arms and their legs. Jackson won the Heisman Trophy in 2016, so if Milroe can continue to emulate his play, there could be big things in store for the young Alabama star.

We will find out a lot about Milroe this weekend. His performance against Middle Tennessee State was great, but it was Middle Tennessee State. This week, all eyes will be on Tuscaloosa as #11 Texas football comes to town to square off with Alabama under the lights. This is the biggest game of the week in college football, ESPN's College GameDay will be there, and it will be a big test for Milroe and Alabama. If he has another big game and leads the Crimson Tide to victory, his hype we become even louder.
