Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban ignited the flames to what promises to be an intense SEC rivalry when he accused Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher of “buying his team” with NIL deals. Fisher responded with a personal attack, throwing Saban's name in the mud. Amid the recent ugly feud, Saban and the Crimson Tide swiped an ex-Texas A&M recruit, quarterback Eli Holstein. The recruitment of Holstein likely takes Alabama out of the Arch Manning sweepstakes in the process, as reported by The Athletic.

Alabama received a commitment from Eli Holstein, a four-star quarterback from Zachary, La., on Tuesday in a move that likely takes the Crimson Tide out of the Arch Manning sweepstakes. Holstein announced his decision in a post on Twitter.

The 6-foot-4, 222-pound Holstein is ranked No. 54 overall and the No. 8 quarterback in the 247Sports Composite in the Class of 2023. He originally committed to Texas A&M last June but backed off that pledge in mid-March.

Holstein, a four-star recruit, originally committed to Texas A&M last summer but backed out two months ago. The eighth-ranked quarterback in the 2023 class via 247 Sports, Alabama seems to have found their signal-caller of the future amid Arch Manning speculation.

Not only that, but Saban and the Crimson Tide add insult to injury, swiping Fisher's former coveted recruit. This figures to only add more fuel to the fire between Alabama and Texas A&M.

While Manning, the nephew of former NFL stars Eli and Peyton Manning, is widely regarded as the no. 1 overall recruit, Holstein is no slouch either. The 6-4, 222-pound quarterback threw for 3,228 yards and 30 touchdown passes while rushing for 523 yards and 14 scores.

Alabama landed a great, young quarterback and stuck it to Jimbo Fisher in the process.
