Alexander Zverev takes on Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open men's singles final. Our French Open Final odds series has our Zverev Alcaraz prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Zverev Alcaraz.

The 2024 French Open has arrived at its final singles match. Iga Swiatek is the women's champion, living up to her billing as the clear-cut favorite. There was no clear favorite on the men's side because all the top contenders had injury concerns going into the event. Carlos Alcaraz has made his way through to the final without playing his very best tennis. He is not at his physical peak, but neither was Jannik Sinner. The two young superstars played a five-setter which was interesting and dramatic, but not great in terms of pure quality. There were lots of ups and downs in an emotional, nerve-soaked match. Alcaraz was able to steady himself in the fourth set when trailing two sets to one. He rallied to win in five and is now in his first French Open final. Alcaraz was stopped in the semifinals last year by Novak Djokovic. He lost in 2022 to the man he will face in Sunday's final, Alexander Zverev. That match two years ago was a quarterfinal. This match is a whole lot bigger.

If Alcaraz wins here, he will have a championship at three of the four major tournaments, having already won the U.S. Open and Wimbledon. Alcaraz would also own major titles on all three surfaces, adding clay to hardcourt and grass. A win here catapults Alcaraz to an exalted realm of superstardom. His career is already so full of promise, but a win on Sunday takes everything to another level.

Alexander Zverev is one win away from an elusive first major title. Zverev was very, very close to winning a major four years ago at the 2020 U.S. Open, but he let a lead slip away against Dominic Thiem in New York. He has not been back to a major final since then. He carried a 1-6 record in major semifinals into Friday's Roland Garros semi versus Casper Ruud. Zverev lost the first set 6-2 but then completely turned the match around to win in four sets. Zverev is 27 years old and knows Alcaraz and Sinner are going to be the main contenders at majors in the coming years. One does not know if this is the last, best chance for Zverev to capture a major title. He can't assume he'll get another shot beyond this one. This is a career-defining match far more for Zverev than it is for Alcaraz.

Why Alexander Zverev Could Cover The Spread

The spread of 4.5 games for this match means if Zverev wins one set, he will probably cover. As long as Zverev keeps it close in the three sets he loses, he should cover. A pretty reasonable scoreline for a four-set match would be Alcaraz over Zverev, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, something in that range. If that is the scoreline — or if the margins for each set are at those levels (+2 for Alcaraz in set one, -2 in set two, +2 in sets three and four), Zverev covers. If Zverev can force a tiebreaker in any set, that means Alcaraz could win the set by only one game. If the match goes five sets — meaning Zverev wins at least two sets — it's very hard to see how he won't cover. Alcaraz beat Jannik Sinner in a five-set match but won only one more game, 23-22. Sinner covered the +2.5-game spread. Zverev is not a dominant player, but he wins a lot of sets. He can keep this one close.

Why Carlos Alcaraz Could Cover The Spread

Alcaraz was nervous against Sinner on Friday. If he relaxes here and plays his best, he will demolish Zverev and cover easily.
