It was essentially business as usual for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara in the team's season-opening win against the Houston Texans on Monday, as he carried the ball 13 times for 97 yards while catching seven passes for 72 yards.

He didn't score any touchdowns, but he was efficient and versatile and helped set the tone for the Saints in their 30-28 victory.

Now, New Orleans will be heading to Los Angeles for an NFC Championship Game rematch against the Rams this Sunday, and the Saints will be looking to ride Kamara to a revenge win against a rather pedestrian run defense.

Yes, Los Angeles has Aaron Donald, but it ranked just 14th in the NFL in defending the run last year, and while the Rams have made some additions to their defense in 2019, they don't appear to be that much better this time around, as they were gashed for 127 yards in their Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers last Sunday.

Of course, that was just one game, but LA is not known for its ability to stop the run (or its defense in general), so things seem to be setting up for Kamara to have a big performance.

Remember: with Mark Ingram gone, Kamara is the clear-cut No. 1 back in New Orleans, even if Latavius Murray was impressive with his 43 yards and a score on six carries in the season opener.

So, expect to see a heavy dose of Kamara this Sunday as the Saints try and avenge one of the most gut-wrenching losses we have ever seen last January.

Obviously, New Orleans isn't simply going to pound the ball with Kamara all game. The Saints have a pretty fine passing game thanks to Drew Brees and Michael Thomas, as evidenced by Brees completing 32 of his 43 passes for 370 yards and a couple of touchdowns in Week 1.

But remember: Kamara is also a terrific receiver out of the backfield and is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he hauled in 81 receptions for 709 yards and four scores, so he is nearly as likely to be a threat in the aerial attack as he is in the ground game.

Kamara has quickly developed into one of the best all-around running backs in the NFL since entering the league in 2017, making the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons.

He is absurdly efficient, as he boasts a lifetime average of 5.2 yards per carry thus far, and that was on full display on Monday when the 24-year-old registered 7.5 yards per attempt.

Basically, you can almost always rely on Kamara to have a productive game, and it would be somewhat surprising if he didn't have a significant impact in Week 2.

This will almost certainly be a shootout between two high-octane offensive clubs that don't play elite defense, so Kamara is sure to get his fair share of touches, both on the ground and through the air, in this contest.

Look for Kamara to tally anywhere between 15-20 rushes while also catching five or more passes. He has recorded just two 100-yard rushing outings thus far in his career, but it wouldn't be a shock to see him log a third this weekend.
