The Minnesota Timberwolves are heading home from the NBA Playoffs and their magical season comes to an end after dropping 4-1 to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals. The season wasn't all for nothing, however, as Anthony Edwards established himself as the new up-and-coming face of the NBA. He also has the most popular signature shoe in the league right now and even though Minnesota won't be making a Finals trip, they're going to be just fine with Edwards running the league for a while.

The Adidas AE 1 was originally released in late 2023 and the buzz around the sneakers grew to enormous heights throughout 2024. Most of this can be attributed to Anthony Edwards' stunning play on the court and viral moments of jumping over opponents and throwing down the best dunks we saw this season.

The marketing campaign Adidas put together for Anthony Edwards was perfect in the sense of having the perfect player, at the perfect moment, performing at the highest level. The shoes are also completely unique and allow for countless combinations of possible colorways. So far, just seven editions have been released to the public, but given this latest commercial from Adidas starring Edwards, more pairs will be on the way.

“This is only the beginning. I'm not who they think I am – I'm better. Believe that.”

The commercial goes on to show Anthony Edwards shooting hoops while his friend prints receipts of tweets from notable players like Carmelo Anthony, who may have doubted Edwards upon his initial entry to the league. After his wild season and Playoffs, Edwards laughs to himself as the receipts are printed, clearly mocking them as he exceeded all expectations and proved all naysayers wrong.

The commercial also shows Edwards shooting hoops in his latest Adidas AE 1 Low sneakers in the unreleased “Slime” colorway. Anthony Edwards actually rocked the pair in a few games throughout these playoffs, most notably during the Western Conference Finals.

While the advertisement doesn't explicitly indicate the newest “Slime” AE 1s will be releasing, it's a strong hint that this will be the next colorway to arrive in the AE 1 line. Adidas has only released two colorways of the new low-cut Adidas sneaker, but it's almost a guarantee that we'll be seeing many more iterations of these release throughout the summer.
