The ALCS has been a fierce battle between the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros. When tension got too hot, Bryan Abreu came inside with a pitch and hit Rangers slugger Adolis Garcia, leading to a benches clearing brawl.

For his actions in that brawl, Abreu was suspended for two games. The relief pitcher appealed and saw his suspension upheld. However, Abreu will serve his two-game suspension at the start of the 2024 regular season rather than in the current playoffs, via MLB's PR team.

While Abreu will still have to miss two games, Houston has to be elated with MLB's decision. The Astros are preparing for a winner-take-all Game 7 against the Rangers. In the most important game of the season, the Astros will be able to turn to one of their best closers.

Abreu appeared in 72 games during the regular season, holding a 1.72 ERA and a 100/31 K/BB ratio. During the playoffs, the right-hander was smoothing sailing prior to the ALCS. In seven appearances before facing the Rangers, Abreu didn't allow a run nor and struck out seven.

In the ALCS, Abreu has let up two earned runs in his four innings. While he has struck out six, he has allowed two walks. But while things have been a little bumpy, Abreu is still one of the Astros most reliable relievers.

MLB's latest decision will ensure that Bryan Abreu is active for the must-watch Game 7 encounter. The ALCS has been full of must-see moments, all leading to Game 7. Whether the Astros or Rangers come out victorious, Abreu will be able to take part in it all.
