The MLB and Oakland Athletics were in shock after watching pitcher Chris Bassitt take a pitch to the face and leave the game. Well, there has been some good news regarding Bassitt. According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Bassitt is stable and is set to return to the Bay Area sometime during this week.

The incident left everybody in shock, but Bassitt sent a message afterward thanking everybody for the support during the difficult time.

Bassitt is more than likely out for the remainder of the season, although that isn't important. What is important is the long-term health of Bassitt, and the Athletics are with him every step of the way. The team also sent out a statement regarding Bassitt's status.

Bassitt had been enjoying a nice season, compiling a 12-4 record with a 3.22 ERA in 25 appearances for Oakland, the team that he has spent all but one season of his MLB career with.

Nonetheless, this is terrific news for Bassitt and the Athletics, and getting him back in the area and around the time will definitely be beneficial after they had to witness such a tragic turn of events. Let's hope Bassitt continues to progress well with the injury and he can make a full recovery.
