Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez is known for his antics on the pitch almost as much as he is known as a prolific scorer.

In his teamā€™s UEFA Champions League group stage match against Lokomotiv Moscow, Suarez received a yellow card for sneaking behind the referee and looking at the VAR monitor while a play was being reviewed:

Early in the match, with Suarez and Atletico ahead 1-0, his teammate Hector Herrera appeared to handle the ball in the penalty area. As the referee went to the VAR monitor to confirm, the 33-year-old striker followed the official and looked over his shoulder at the monitor.Ā

The referee then booked him for a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct. The Russian sideā€™s midfielder Anton Miranchuk later converted the penalty, which evened the score at 1-1, which turned out to be the match's final score.Ā

The Uruguayan striker, who previously played for another La Liga club in Barcelona and Liverpool in the English Premier League before that, has a history of on-field controversies, from biting opponents in different incidents to racially abusing Patrice Evra during his time with Liverpool.Ā

His latest controversy was being caught in a cheating scandal in a language exam to gain his Italian passport after his supposed move to Serie A club Juventus and a partnership with former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.Ā

This incident halted his move to the Serie A champions, with Suarez instead going to Atletico Madrid. He has helped them to a strong start in the 2020-2021 season. Atletico is currently fourth in the standings with four wins and two draws, with the former Barcelona star scoring four goals in his first five matches. Suarez, however, has not yet found the back of the net for his new club in the Champions League.
