18-year-old Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz announced his presence to the ATP Tour with a huge victory over Pablo Carreno Busta at the Barcelona Open on Sunday. Not only that, but Alcaraz earned his place in ATP Tour history by eclipsing a feat not accomplished since it was done by Rafael Nadal in 2005. ESPN has the details.

Carlos Alcaraz moved up to No. 9 in the ATP rankings on Monday, a little more than a month before he turns 19, making him the youngest man to break into the top 10 since Rafael Nadal did it exactly 17 years ago.

Per ESPN, Alcaraz, who moved into the top-10 of the ATP Tour's rankings, is the youngest man to do so since Nadal did it 17 years ago. Now ranked no. 9 in the world, Alcaraz will turn 19 in a little over a month.

Like Nadal, the 18-year-old also hails from Spain and is adept at playing on clay surfaces. Alcaraz' victory at the Barcelona Open included an impressive quarterfinal upset of world no. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Spaniard has won three ATP Tour titles this season and owns the second-most match wins, with 23. With the French Open fast approaching, it's becoming increasingly clear that there's a new kid on the block on the tour.
