Kevin Durant is one of the NBA's modern superstars, and with that comes fans from around thew world. Durant, now competing with Team USA at the Rio Olympics, has come face to face with one of his biggest Australian fans, swimmer Kyle Chalmers.

When Chalmers ran into Durant Wednesday night, he almost lost his cool due to excitement. As he told the Sydney Morning Herald's Laine Clark:

“Last night I was walking over to my semifinals and Kevin Durant walked in front of me. o be honest with you I almost vomited. My jaw dropped. I was that excited and nervous.”

Chalmers is such the KD super-fan that watches Durant's famous “You The Real MVP” 2014 MVP award acceptance speech prior to all his races. In a great gesture to the Aussie swimmer, his team manager got in contact with Durant to record a personal message to him before Chalmers competed in the 100-meter freestyle final.

Received the best goodluck message this morning – thankyou @easymoneysniper

However, they couldn't actually show it to Chalmers before his big race because as he admits, it would have been too much too handle:

“They actually had to show it to me this morning because they knew I wouldn't be able to focus if I saw it tonight before my race – I'm a big fan.”

Holding off on showing Chalmers the video was the right move – he won his race, taking home gold in the event.
