The famous NFT Game Axie Infinity has recently released a balancing patch, along with its graphic reworks. The balancing patch will go live on January 17, 2022, for play-testing on the buffs and nerfs done. This will pave the way to necessary hotfixes for the upcoming Season 20, which will begin this February. These balances are from actively sought community input to make the game fairer for upcoming players.

Here is the full list of Balances done on each card:

Some of the notable nerfs are on the cards Third Glance and Sunder Claw, which disables your opponent by discarding one random card in their hand. For this to take effect now, it should be played with another card, which forces the player to use more resources to use its effect. This is a major hit to the cards as they will not be trading resources anymore as 1:1 but 2:1 instead due to having it needed to combo with another card. It will gain more value if the card is with itself or another discard effect card.

Another notable Axie Infinity nerf is the “anemone” cards where the player can restore 100 hp per card given that the axie has double anemone. They further decreased the attack and shield value rendering it vulnerable to all-out attacks. This will also further decrease its kill potential due to again reducing the damage.

Some of the cards are too buffed as well having a total of 165+ stats given to them. These are cards such as Shipwreck, Neuro Toxin, Woodman Power, and Grub Surprise. You can even get one axie to possess 3 of these will be hard to take down while packing a punch. These are still not final until Season 20 is active.

Axie Infinity Season 20 Changes in Game Mechanics

There is also a change in the in-game mechanics, pertaining to the computation on Skill value. The Skill value now uses percentage instead of base damage addition. The calculation is as follows:

Bonus Damage Calculation

Card Damage x (Skill x 0.55 – 12.25) / 100

With these drastic changes for specific lineups, The meta will change heavily giving people an ample amount of time to change axies. Season 20 is just around the corner so let's see if there are more changes.
