After a dismal start to the campaign, there have already been rumors circling that Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman could be out of a job sooner rather than later. Club president Joan Laporta is exploring other options to take over for the Dutchman but if you're asking the coach himself, he has no intentions of leaving the club at this moment in time.

Koeman made it crystal clear that he is happy with Barcelona, despite their struggles. Via Fabrizio Romano:

While he may feel happy with his players, it's unfortunately not Koeman's decision on if he keeps his position or not. Although they haven't yet lost in La Liga, the Catalans were embarrassed on Champions League matchday 1, suffering a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at Camp Nou.

Barcelona is clearly having a tough time adjusting to life without Lionel Messi and there have also been significant injuries to key players that have played a part. Koeman has been in charge since last summer and guided Barca to a third-place finish last term.

Koeman spoke to the press on Wednesday before their clash with Cadiz Thursday and read a short statement before storming out and refusing to answer any questions. He made it clear that Barcelona is heading in a new direction with young players who need time to develop. Via ESPN:

“The young talent we have can become world stars in a couple of years. The good thing about rebuilding the team is that the young players will have chances, like Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta did in their day. But we ask for patience.

“Finishing high in the league would be a success. European football is a good school for these young players, but we can't expect miracles in the Champions League. The defeat to Bayern Munich has to be viewed from that perspective.”

It will take time for Barcelona to be a superior club again. But, as we know, the board isn't exactly used to this. That being said, it's highly possible a change is made very soon in the Camp Nou dugout.
