Leading up to the Battlefield 2042 launch on October 22, it will have an Open Beta in September. This Open Beta period will allow the developers to test and get feedback on the game. This is especially cruicial for a multiplayer-heavy title that will also support cross-play.

On the official “Frequently Asked Questions” page for the game, EA responded with the following regarding the Open Beta:

“Yes, in the months leading up to launch, we will host an Open Beta* available to all players across all platforms. If you pre-order any of the editions of Battlefield 2042, you will get early access to the Open Beta. Stay tuned for more Open Beta details.”

Currently, there's no confirmed dates outside “September.” However, we can expect pre-order players to get early access to the Open Beta earlier in the weekdays. The following weekend will presumably then be open to all players.

The official disclaimers page confirms that “gameplay progress, achievements, characters, character data and/or any other value or status indicators in the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta will not transfer to the Battlefield 2042 main game. The installation of the Origin client is also required for both the PC and console versions.

Additionally, a technical playtest supposedly also took place earlier this month. However, that was exclusive to Battlefield veterans. This closed Alpha test would have been done under NDA under a closed setting.
