Amid his impressive form for Chelsea, Antonio Rudiger has crept onto the radar of Bayern Munich, according to Goal. Real Madrid and PSG are also monitoring the German international, who has yet to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge with his current deal expiring next summer.

It’s believed to be just concrete interest at this moment in time, with Bayern making contact with Rudiger’s agent and brother, Sahr Senesie, but it’s simply just talks. Per Goal’s report, the Bavarians see Rudiger as a solid replacement for his compatriot Nikolas Sule, who will see his current contract run out in the summer of 2022 as well.

Rudiger has been the heartbeat of Chelsea’s backline and was a key piece in the side’s Champions League triumph in May. While he has voiced that he wants to stay with the Blues, Nagelsmann was still asked about the rumors of Bayern’s interest in him:

“I’m talking about him now as a football fan because he is a German senior international. He has made a super development. Thomas [Tuchel] has handled him extremely well – he was still on the sidelines at Chelsea a year ago and is now certainly one of their most decisive players.

“He has incredibly good aggression and is a very good defender. I haven’t spoken to Brazzo (Hasan Salihamidzic) about it and if I did, I wouldn’t tell you either! I just read that in the media as well. I’ll have to see when the contract expires and then I’ll see if I still have money in my wallet!”

At 28-years-old, there are still many years of football left for Rudiger. You’d have to believe he’d be at least a little bit interested in returning to his homeland and playing for Bayern, but if Chelsea enjoys another terrific campaign and he plays an instrumental part, it would be difficult to believe Rudiger wouldn’t put pen to paper on a new deal.
