Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the departure of Ryan Gravenberch from the club. The Dutch midfielder will be completing his move to Liverpool later today.

According to the reports from Fabrizio Romano, Tuchel was talking to the media in the Bundesliga pre-match press conference. He said, “He wasn't happy with his situation here as he sees the chance in Liverpool to fight for a place in a 433”.

“He's wanted to go for a while. An offer came in, we discussed it. The outcome is clear”.

As Tuchel said, Gravenberch wasn't enjoying his time at Bayern Munich due to the lack of minutes. Liverpool presents him with an ideal opportunity to play in a 4-3-3 system. The Reds have bought Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai but have struggled to find control during their recent games. The departure of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson hurt Liverpool really badly as they didn't have a No.6 to provide a shield to their defense or the freedom to their advanced midfielders.

As far as Bayern Munich is concerned, it will pave the way for them to sign Joao Palhinha. The Portuguese midfielder has not started Fulham's last few Premier League games due to an unclear future. He is open to a move to Germany, provided he gets first-team minutes. Moreover, the Bavarians have already sold Marcel Sabitzer to Borussia Dortmund after he returned from his six-month loan at Manchester United.

Both Liverpool and Bayern Munich have identified midfield as their concern. As they are in their respective European competitions, the midfield additions will allow them to build a spine to be competitive across all competitions.
