Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields was ruled out early for his team's Week 12 Thanksgiving game against the Detroit Lions. It was already known that Fields was dealing with a rib injury, though a recent MRI revealed the true extent of the injury, as reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Ouch. The Bears didn't exactly specify what Justin Fields was dealing with but now it's known. That's certainly a painful injury, though it sounds like Fields has a minor version of it, which is good news for Chicago.

Even better, Rapoport notes that Fields should return shortly- perhaps as soon as in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals? Here's hoping that Fields returns soon, because a nightmare scenario for Bears fans is Andy Dalton excelling against the Lions on Thanksgiving, with head coach Matt Nagy going back to the veteran at quarterback.

That is very unlikely to happen, but no one can put it past Nagy at this point, given recent reports. The bottom line is, Fields is dealing with a bit of a more serious injury than initially thought, but has a chance to return soon.

That's good news for the Bears, as they'll want their rookie signal-caller to get as many reps as possible.
