Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson has had one heck of a season. In 14 games, he has racked up 51 tackles, a sack, six interceptions, a pair of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, three defensive touchdowns and 15 passes defended.

Talk about filling up the stat sheet.

Pro Football Focus thinks Jackson has been so great that he deserves Defensive Player of the Year consideration:

Unfortunately for the Bears, Jackson injured his ankle in a win over the Green Bay Packers two weeks ago and proceeded to miss his team's victory over the Detroit Lions last weekend. He is currently listed as doubtful for Chicago's game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Still, without Jackson's services through the first 14 games of the year, the Bears' defense wouldn't be the dominant force it has become.

Jackson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by Chicago in the fourth round (112th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He started all 16 games during his rookie campaign, finishing with 70 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, two defensive touchdowns and six passes defended.

The Bears will enter Sunday with a record of 11-4 and have an opportunity to land a first-round bye. In order for that to occur, Chicago will have to beat a desperate Minnesota team—a tough task in and of itself—and will need the San Francisco 49ers to take care of the Los Angeles Rams, which seems fairly unlikely.

Either way, the Bears will be making their first postseason appearance since the 2010-11 campaign.
