You cannot ignore the potential of Ben Simmons.

This year's number one overall pick of the Philadelphia 76ers has been compared to the likes of LeBron James and Blake Griffin. In his first action against NBA players during the Las Vegas Summer League, Simmons didn't disappoint.

It's very clear out of the gates that Simmons is already on another level. He's not a player without flaws, but he's already showing he can be elite in a variety of ways.

The discussion around Simmons surrounds the term “star” even though he's yet to play a meaningful NBA game. A panel of experts were asked about Simmons' potential over at NBA.com, and just about all of them unanimously believe he will be a star within two-three years.

Simmons put up averages of 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game during summer league. It was his passing and vision that stood out above all else.

Simmons' passing highlights already look like that of a Hall of Famer. He will immediately enter the league as one of the game's best distributors. But, he's also been described as a 6-foot-10 Rajon Rondo because of his reluctancy to shoot from the outside, or look to score in general. Simmons' defensive commitment has also been questioned.

The rookie may not be the sure-thing future star that LeBron was, but he already appears to be on his way to being close to a certain star. At least, that's what the NBA experts are already saying.
