After Ben Simmons reportedly turned away the Philadelphia 76ers players' flight en route to Los Angeles a few days ago, the next best thing for Joel Embiid and co. was to let Simmons know how they're feeling through media day.

With recent reports indicating Simmons already disconnected himself from the team, it appears the gap just got wider after media day, per Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Fast forward to Monday afternoon, when Morey, Sixers coach Doc Rivers and big man Joel Embiid all spoke at length about Simmons’ absence from their training camp during the team’s media day, and it should surprise no one that their messages fell flat when they reached the Simmons camp. If anything, it only added to the agitation.

Regardless of what came out of Daryl Morey, Doc Rivers, and Joel Embiid's mouths, Simmons has seemingly shut down any hopes of reconciliation with the Sixers.

In spite of his shortcomings in the playoffs, Ben Simmons is still one of the best young talents in the NBA. His shooting woes are notoriously documented, but his playmaking and defense are at an elite level.

In terms of fit, Amick also reported that Ben Simmons no longer views Embiid as an ideal tag team partner, owing to the latter's playing style which the Sixers have catered to in recent years. The 6-foot-10 point guard remains steadfast in his desire to leave Philadelphia. However, the Sixers have gone from rumors of asking for the moon and the stars in trades, to hoping that Simmons stays.

Unfortunately, this holdout does not have a clear ending on the horizon.
