The Cincinnati Bengals are heading to their first Super Bowl since 1988 and rookie kicker Evan McPherson has played a massive part in the team getting to this point. He sealed the deal with a 31-yard FG in overtime against the Chiefs on Sunday in the AFC Championship, while also knocking off the Tennessee Titans the week prior with his lethal right boot.

On Monday, TMZ Sports talked to the Bengals kicker and he revealed exactly what he said to his holder before winning the game at Arrowhead. This is the epitome of confidence:

“Before I took my steps back, I was just like, ‘All right, man. Let's just be legendary,'” McPherson said he told holder Kevin Huber. “I said this is where legends are made.”

“And so I was like, ‘Let's just be legendary. Let's put this ball through and let's go to the Super Bowl.”

Imagine being that confident in your abilities 22-years-old. Remind you of somebody else on the Bengals roster? Maybe quarterback Joe Burrow? McPherson has been absolutely lights out for Cincinnati this season, converting 28 of his 33 field goal attempts. In the playoffs, he's shown zero nerves. That's the most impressive part.

Given how all of these games have played out thus far, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Super Bowl come down to another field goal. If that happens, Evan McPherson will surely be ready.
