According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert will miss the remainder of the regular season with an ankle injury. Eifert broke his ankle in his team's nail-biting 37-36 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. This will be a huge blow to the Bengals offense, as Eifert is one of the premier tight ends in the NFL.

The Bengals are off to a great start at 3-1. A.J. Green went down in their only loss of the season to the Carolina Panthers in Week 3. Fortunately he was able to rejoin the team and make a game-winning touchdown catch this week.

Tyler Eifert is 6-foot-6 and weighs in at 255 lbs, making him a serious physical force in the passing game. He made his only Pro Bowl appearance in 2015, but suffered an ankle injury that followed him into 2016. Injuries continued to hamper his development since then. He played just two games for the Bengals in the 2017-18 season. It only took four before he was ruled out this year.

While his sixth season is lost, the 28-year-old Eifert will have an opportunity to get plenty of rest to recover for next year. Through three weeks, he accrued 15 receptions for 179 yards and a score. If he gets healthy, he could produce the 52 receptions for 615 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns he recorded in 2015.

The Bengals will take on a 3-1 Miami Dolphins team in Week 5. Andy Dalton will have to adjust to life without his big safety valve present. Regardless, the team still has a bright future.
