The Cincinnati Bengals seem to have a star in the making under center in the form of quarterback Jake Browning. In just his second start of his NFL career, Browning had a gem of a performance for Cincinnati in Week 13's 34-31 overtime win on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, just like all Cincinnati fans, was left amazed by the poise and control Browning showed versus the Jags, saying that the former Washington Huskies gunslinger “lit the world on fire,” (h/t Ben Baby of ESPN).

Browning had his way against the Jags' defense, carving up Jacksonville for 354 passing yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions and no fumbles while completing 32 of his 37 throws. The Bengals could not have asked for a better showing from Browning, who consistently found Ja'Marr Chase downfield. Chase had a game-high 149 receiving yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions and 12 targets.

“We can see the intangible stuff and the preparation he puts in,” Taylor added. “But when he goes out there and he leads the team like he did, I certainly think it raises the entire confidence level of the team.”

Behind Browning's excellent table setting, the Bengals managed to get back to .500 with a 6-6 record and give their playoff chances a much-needed spark after losing three games in a row. Cincinnati will look to keep its momentum going down the stretch, with five games remaining on their schedule in the 2023 NFL regular season, including Week 14's date with the Indianapolis Colts at home.
