The Las Vegas Aces take on the Los Angeles Sparks. Check out our WNBA odds series for our Aces Sparks prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Aces Sparks.

The Las Vegas Aces are the reigning WNBA champions, and while they have delivered some strong performances this season — such as a convincing road win over the Minnesota Lynx — they haven't consistently been on top of their game. The injury to guard Chelsea Gray has left Vegas without one of its core players. The Aces aren't fully whole — and aren't able to reach the absolute height of their powers — without Gray. This team isn't underachieving, but it certainly has room to grow. Coach Becky Hammon is trying to create stability without a key cog in the Aces' machine.

Vegas just got whacked at home by the red-hot Seattle Storm. The Aces don't have all the components to mount a response when a good, talented opponent brings its A-game to the court. That is something Vegas will need to continue to work on as long as Chelsea Gray isn't yet available to play.

In this game, however, Vegas might not have to need its very best. The Los Angeles Sparks are one of a few teams in the WNBA which is unlikely to make the playoffs. It's a learn-and-grow season for rookie Cameron Brink and the rest of the Los Angeles roster. The team needs to make sure that it evolves in 2024 and learns what it needs to become better in 2025 and beyond. Making the playoffs would be great, but it might not be a realistic goal. Improvement is the main focus.

Measured against that standard, Friday night was encouraging for L.A. The Sparks ground down the Dallas Wings' offense in the second half and turned a six-point deficit into a seven-point win. The Sparks smothered Dallas down the stretch and might have gained insights into how they need to play for the rest of the season.

Why The Aces Could Cover The Spread

The Aces have shown that when they do play a bad game or two, they respond with a good outing. It's not as though they are playing bad basketball on a consistent basis; they are playing bad basketball on occasion. They're not playing good basketball as regularly as they would like, but they do have some very good games. They won convincingly at Dallas last week before the loss to Seattle. They do make adjustments when things go wrong.

In this game, the Aces should be very focused after losing to the Storm. They are facing one of the worst teams in the WNBA and should be able to exploit matchups all over the floor. It's a game which sets up well for them.

Why The Sparks Could Cover The Spread

With Chelsea Gray still out, the Aces aren't nearly as good as they otherwise would be. That point aside, the Sparks looked better against Dallas on Friday and will have new confidence when they take the court here. Also keep in mind that Los Angeles covered a larger spread than this one (14 to 15 points depending on which sportsbook you use) on the road against the Aces earlier this season. Los Angeles could very easily cover 11.5 points at home.

Final Aces-Sparks Prediction & Pick

The Aces are likely to win, but covering 11.5 points against a Los Angeles team which plays decent defense might be tougher than many think. We're leaning to the Aces, but our official recommendation is to pass on this game and wait for a live play.

Final Aces-Sparks Prediction & Pick: Aces -11.5
