The Las Vegas Aces take on the Dallas Wings. Check out our WNBA odds series for our Aces Wings prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Aces Wings.
The Las Vegas Aces are the defending champions of the WNBA. Last year they lost just six games in the regular season, winning 34. This season, they have lost twice in their first six games. In an oddity of the WNBA schedule, the Aces have played just six games while a number of other teams have played at least nine or 10 games. The Aces are going to eventually have some stretches in which they have to play a large number of games in a short period of time. Some losses are bound to come from those difficult periods on the schedule. The Aces are looking at a situation in which it might be hard for them to win 30 games this season. They might not be able to finish with the best record in the league and get the top seed in the WNBA playoffs. They might not even be one of the top two teams in the league, given the way the Connecticut Sun and Minnesota Lynx are playing. It's a time for the Aces to redouble their efforts and find a way of playing consistently good ball. Las Vegas got tripped up by a relatively average Atlanta Dream this past Friday. The other game Vegas has lost this season was a home-court contest against another mediocre team, the Phoenix Mercury. The Aces aren't always playing a winning hand. Coach Becky Hammon is trying to figure out how to cultivate a rhythm with her team which won't easily fade away.

Why The Aces Could Cover The Spread
The Aces have shown at their best that they can still perform like an elite team. Their decisive road win at the Minnesota Lynx last week is a sign of how imposing they can be. Minnesota is having a great season, but Vegas lashed the Lynx with a scary level of efficiency. Then the Aces seemed to overlook the Dream on Friday in a true letdown performance. After having several days off — several days to think about how poorly they played in the second half of the Atlanta loss — the Aces should be ready to get back on track against the Wings.
Why The Wings Could Cover The Spread
The big reminder about the Aces is that guard Chelsea Gray is still unavailable to play. Her backcourt skills, energy, and veteran experience all matter a lot in terms of making this team cohesive at both ends of the floor and enabling every primary Las Vegas player to fit into her natural role. Without Gray, the Aces don't have all the cards they need to play high-stakes basketball poker. Until Gray returns, this team is going to be somewhat inconsistent.
Dallas lost last Friday against the Connecticut Sun — the only unbeaten team left in the WNBA — but they led the Sun by three points heading into the final few minutes. They lost by two. Dallas gave Minnesota a tough game on Sunday before losing. This is a competitive team which might not win straight up, but should be able to cover an eight-point spread.
Final Aces-Wings Prediction & Pick
The Aces are going to be mad, and that should help them play well here, but the spread is large. We think you should ultimately pass on this game.
