Why The Angels Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Angels have struggled this season on their way to a 25-40 record. They also broke a two-game losing streak with a win in their most recent game. The offense has been average, ranking in the middle of the pack with their bats behind the plate. Their pitching has struggled in comparison and is one of the worst in the league. Taylor Ward, Zach Neto, Logan O'Hoppe, Mike Trout, and Anthony Rendon have tried to lead a middling offense. On the mound, Tyler Anderson and Jose Soriano have played well for a unit that has struggled all season. The Angels have struggled and have not been able to find much consistency at all this season.
The Angels are starting Jose Soriano as pitcher where he has a 3-5 record, a 3.64 ERA, and a 1.21 WHIP. He has allowed 30 runs on 52 hits with 26 walks and 55 strikeouts through 64.1 innings. The Angels are also 5-8 in the 13 games that he's appeared in, so far this season. Soriano has been a bright spot for the Angels as a pitcher, but he gets a tough matchup against the Diamondbacks and how good their offense has been.

The Diamondbacks have been inconsistent this season and have been dealing with injuries on their way to a 31-35 record. They most recently won a game that broke a two-game losing streak. The Diamondbacks have had a strong season behind the plate and are in the top 10. Their pitching has struggled and is one of the worst in the league. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Ketel Marte, Joc Pederson, Corbin Carroll, Eugenio Suarez, and Christian Walker have been great on offense. Zac Gallen, Brandon Pfaadt, and Merrill Kelly, despite both Gallen and Kelly being injured. The Diamondbacks have been decimated with injuries and have struggled more than many thought coming into the year.
The Diamondbacks are starting Slade Cecconi as pitcher where he has a 1-4 record, a 5.66 ERA, and a 1.14 WHIP. Through 41.1 innings, Cecconi has allowed 26 runs on 38 hits with nine walks and 29 strikeouts. The Diamondbacks are 4-4 in the eight games he has appeared in this season. Cecconi has struggled this season, but the Angels offense is not anything special this season and has been average so far.
The offense for the Diamondbacks has been great this season. The Diamondbacks are 10th in the MLB in team batting average at .247 after having a .250 last season. Ketel Marte and Christian Walker lead the team in almost every important batting category. Also, at least 13 Diamondbacks have hit one home run up to this point in the season. Marte leads the team in batting average at .281, leads in home runs at 13, and then in total hits at 72. Walker then leads the way in RBI at 41 and OBP at .344. This offense has been great, but Jose Soriano will be a tough matchup because he has been a decent pitcher for the Angels this year.

It has been hard to trust either team in this game, but the Diamondbacks are he better team overall. This should still be close because Soriano is the better pitcher when compared to Cecconi. Bank on the Diamondbacks to win and cover at home against a struggling team like the Angels.
