The Houston Astros take on the Los Angeles Angels. Our MLB odds series has our Astros Angels prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Astros Angels.
The Los Angeles Angels are in the midst of an awful and prolonged hitting slump. It's hard for great teams to maintain greatness over the full 162-game season in Major League Baseball, but it's also really hard for bad teams to remain especially awful on a consistent basis without any interruption. You would think that even the worst team will play a good game once out of every 10 times. The Angels have actually won a few games earlier this week against the San Diego Padres, so it's not as though they're working on a very long losing skid the way the Chicago White Sox recently did. However, the Angels are in the midst of an active streak which is hard to believe. After Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Houston Astros, the Angels have gone 15 straight games without scoring at least five runs. That's really rather remarkable for even the worst baseball teams we have seen over the years. In a two-week span, even the worst team imaginable scores at least five runs once. It runs into a bad pitcher. It gets a three-run homer with two out. A ground ball finds the hole between third and short. Something happens to push a few more runs across the plate.
For the Angels, those things just won't materialize at all. It's astounding. Due to their power outage, the Halos have lost 10 of those 15 games in which they have been held to four runs or fewer. One wonders if they can finally break through here on Sunday. Standing in their way: Houston ace Justin Verlander, a future Baseball Hall of Fame inductee.

Why The Astros Could Cover The Spread
The Astros love playing in Anaheim. They have been very successful when facing the Angels on the road in recent years. More than that, the Astros are getting great pitching in spite of the injuries affecting their staff. Cristian Javier, Lance McCullers, and Jose Urquidy are all out of commission, but Framber Valdez and Hunter Brown handled the Angels on Friday and Saturday. The Angels are suffering at the plate right now and simply can't be counted on to score any runs. Houston has an obvious advantage in that regard alone; add Justin Verlander to the mix, and the Astros should win this game convincingly.
Why The Angels Could Cover The Spread
The Angels are struggling, but after 15 games of not scoring five or more runs, they are bound to do better. The laws of averages are about to finally come to this team's rescue. It's beyond belief or description that a Major League Baseball team can have 15 straight games of feeble offense with no interruption. The Angels are in a very good bounce-back spot. They're also trying to avoid a sweep, and sweeps — no matter how good or bad a team might be — are hard to achieve.
Final Astros-Angels Prediction & Pick
The Angels' run of futility is going to end soon, but not against Justin Verlander. Take Houston.
Final Astros-Angels Prediction & Pick: Astros -1.5
